Holding out for a hero è una canzone pop-rock incisa nel 1984 da Bonnie Tyler e facente parte della colonna sonora del film Footloose[1] e dell’album Secret Dreams and Forbidden Fire (1986). Autori del brano sono Jim Steinman e Dean Pitchford.
Nel film il brano viene inserito nella scena della gara tra trattori.
Il singolo fu prodotto da Jim Steinman.
Il testo parla di una donna che sogna accanto a sé (e non solo) un uomo forte, insomma un vero eroe d’altri tempi, che sappia affrontare ogni difficoltà.
